PRS HDRX20

The classic, British 60's sound, which is somehow eternally relevant, was the starting point when Paul and his team set about developing the HDRX series. This has resulted in a circuit that has been nicknamed "Authentic Hendrix", as one has had access to one of the legend's personal amps, which he reportedly played on at Woodstock.

With a focus on making the treble appear clear and present without being harsh, the HDRX20 delivers plenty of aggressive attitude while also being gentle as a lamb. The HDRX20 is equipped with two 5881 tubes in the power amplifier, which were chosen due to their compact size and lower power consumption. They are perfect for an amplifier of this size, and part of the secret behind the massive wall of sound the HDRX20 can deliver, despite its modest 20 Watts.

The HDRX20 is also equipped with a 3-band TMB "Tone Stack" eq, a two-way "Bright" button, a High/Mid gain button and presence control. These controls emulate the model pretty closely. Internally, the channels are bridged with separate bass and treble controls for each channel, which eliminates the need for a jumper cable (which you had to do in the old days). This makes it easier and more flexible to hit exactly the distortion and tone you want by mixing the lead and bass channels. With the Master Volume, you can control the power amplifier part very precisely, which eliminates a possible volume attenuator.

PRS has also designed a matching closed-back cabinet for the HDRX20 (sold separately) which compliments the amplifier perfectly. It is equipped with Celestion V-Type units, which have a balanced sound with air at the bottom and excess at the top. With its exclusive design and use of the very best materials, the set appears as an eminent mixture of classic guitar sound and visual beauty.
