The KORG MicroKORG should have been discontinued many years ago. At least if you look at the trend within so-called virtual analog synthesizers. With its now over 20 years behind it (the first MicroKORG came out in 2002), the MicroKORG shouldn't be able to compete with new VA synths in terms of either sound or features. But KORG has just hit the nail on the head, and the MicroKORG is still as sought after as when it came out. That's probably first and foremost because it sounds good - it's simply a great-sounding synthesizer, but also because it's both simple and complex at the same time, so that beginners and seasoned synth geeks alike feel inspired from the first moment until decades later.
Over the years we've seen a number of new interpretations of the physical framework, and now it's MicroKORG Crystal's turn - a stylish combination of clear plastic and milled aluminum. The sound hasn't been tampered with, but the aesthetics have been given a unique and modern expression that emphasizes the iconic basic design.
The microKORG is a duo-timbral 4-voice virtual analog synthesizer with 37 velocity-sensitive quality mini-keys, pitch bend and modulation wheels, and a programming matrix that allows you to program your own sounds. It has 2 oscillators and a noise generator and a multi-mode filter with 24 dB, LPF or 12 dB LPF/BPF/HPF modes. There are 2 envelope generators, 2 LFOs and there are 128 memory locations.
There is also an 8-band vocoder mode with 1 oscillator + noise generator, 1 envelope, 2 LFOs, formant shift function, and the 8 bands can be panned individually. There are 3 delay effects and an equalizer, as well as an arpeggiator with 6 settings. There is an audio input with both line and microphone level options, and the unique "rubber" condenser microphone is included. The microKORG Crystal can be powered by the included power supply, or by six AA batteries and comes with a clear plastic shoulder bag.
The Microkorg has the same "engine" as the MS2000, but is made in a smaller and more user-friendly format. The keyboard has 37 keys and is tou...
