The HA-S is a compact, tube-based hi-end headphone preamp that you build yourself. Don't worry, no soldering or diagram reading is required, you only need to be able to turn a screwdriver. Nutube - real tube in micro format!

KORG's revolutionary Nutube technology was developed in collaboration with Noritake Itron Corp. The technology means you can get the warm, detailed sound of radio tubes with modern advantages. Nutube IS a tube, it's just extremely small and requires much less power, although the performance is directly comparable to traditional radio tubes. Through the transparent top panel you can see the small tube light up. The filament in the tube is fed by a DC-DC converter, which means that the Nutube tube can be powered with 26V by just two A4 batteries.

Tailor to taste

The HA-S is equipped with an NFB (negative feedback) button, which lets you choose between hi-fi clean sound, or a warmer, more overtone sound that we associate with radio tubes. With NFB off, the Nutube is allowed to shine, while the clean, less distorted sound is activated when NFB is on. There are also two different op-amps in the output stage, the high-end oriented "MUSES01" op-amp and the more standardized "NJM4580", both from JRC. These can easily be replaced with other op-amps, so that even the most demanding audiophile can customize his sound as desired.
