sE's VR ribbon microphones mark a new era of ribbon microphone technology.
Until the VR series was launched, the only ribbon microphone in the world that performed in the entire range between 20Hz-20kHz was the Rubert Neve designed sE microphone "RNR1". This was achieved using advanced and custom transformers and a Rupert Neve-designed circuit specially suited to pick up high frequencies that were normally unpickable.
With the VR microphones, full frequency response is achieved using a clever mechanical device designed by Siwei Zou, the company's CEO, and a hand-tensioned aluminum band constructed by sE's highly specialized technicians.
