MODX-lydmoteren er baseret på sammen teknologi som sidder i Yamahas flagskib MONTAGE: AWM2 (Advanced Wave Memory 2) sample og syntese engine samt en ægte FM-X (Frekvensmodulation) synthesizer med fantastiske lyddesignmuligheder.
AWM2-lydmotoren findes kun i Yamaha-synthesizere og kan meget mere end bare at afspille samples. Hver af de 16 AWM2-parts har 8 fuldt programmérbare synthesizere med et filter (18 forskellige slags!), amplitude-, pitch- og filter envelope generatorer, ni LFO'er og 3-bånds EQ, samt en dedikeret dual insert effekt med Virtual Circuitry Modeling.
FM-X er en utroligt avanceret og rendyrket synthesizer-engine, der kan levere klassisk 80'er eller supermoderne EDM-lyd med imponerende dynamik, kraft og præcision. MODX + er udstyret med en FM-arkitektur med 8 operatorer og 64 toners polyfoni, hvilket giver enorme muligheder for lyddesign.
SS (Seamless Sound Switching) sørger for, at når du skifter fra én Performance til en anden, sker det helt uden at nogen effekter eller envelopes bliver skåret af.
