Full description
The sound is the most important thing about any musical instrument. The CP73 and CP88 stage pianos feature a wide selection of grand and upright piano sounds, as well as electric piano and other keyboard sounds to suit any genre.
The CP73 and 88 have sounds from three different first-class concert grands: Yamaha CFX, Yamaha S700 and Bösendorfer Imperial 290. So there is plenty of opportunity to hit just the expression you want.
The Yamaha CFX has taken more than 17 years to develop and is Yamaha's flagship concert grand piano. The CFX has a brilliant top and a muscular bottom with fantastic dynamics and the strength to compete with an entire symphony orchestra.
Bösendorfer is unique among piano builders as the only manufacturer still using the Viennese craftsmanship tradition, which produces a characteristically rich tone, with a warm bottom and singing top. The Imperial 290 has 8 octaves and measures 9.5 feet and is thus Bösendorfer's flagship. The extra bass tones resonate with the other notes and the large singing base gives extra penetration at all frequencies.
The S700 is a hand-built grand piano built by Yamaha's most skilled piano builders. It has the power to cut through dense arrangements, but is still delicate and expressive when it needs to be. The S700 was one of the most popular piano sounds in the S90ES and S90 synthesizers.
The U1 is the most popular upright piano in the world. The U1 sound of the CP73 and CP88 has a vintage and used character, which makes it perfect for music that needs some vibe and the sound of an authentic upright piano.
The SU7 is Yamaha's flagship acoustic upright piano. The SU7 has a full, resonant tone, i.a. because it has hammers similar to the hammers in CFX.
In 1978, Yamaha introduced the CP80 and CP70 electric grand pianos to give musicians a grand piano sound that could cut through the soundscape of live rock'n roll. The CP80 sound on the CP73 and CP88 is powerful and full with a large dynamic range.
The 78 Rd sound (Fender Rhodes) is an electric piano with a wide dynamic range, high quality and suitable for use with effects. Suitable for all genres.
75 Rd is a more "dirty/funky" e-piano. Good for when the music requires a little more vibe and character.
The 73 Rd is a thick and warm vintage e-piano that is perfect for ballads and backing singers.
The Wr (Wurlitzer) is an electric piano in both vintage and modern versions with a large dynamic range.
The CP73 and CP88 also have a wide selection of keyboard sounds based on both tone wheels, transistors, pipe organs, clavinets, FM pianos and more.
The CP73 and CP88 have sounds for any gig. Splits, layers or just solo - warm pads, rich strings, deep synth basses, leads, brass or other. The CPs' one-to-one interface makes it easy and fast to change the sounds in real time.
The CP73 and CP88 have lots of effects that can be used to create unique and special sounds. Each of the three sections (Piano, Electric Piano and Sub section) has dedicated effects.
There are also master effects with delay, reverb and master EQ with dedicated controls that are easy to control in real-time.
Virtual Circuitry Modeling recreates the sound of vintage effects and high-end studio gear by modeling the circuits of the various devices down to every single analog component.
The CP73 is equipped with a new 73-key Balanced Action keyboard that gives you the real e-piano feel. The keyboard goes from E to E, so it's also perfect for playing along with guitar and bass. A balanced keyboard is well suited to many different sounds from acoustic piano to organ or synthesizers.
The balanced 73-key keyboard makes the CP73 compact and lightweight, so you can take it anywhere - on stage or in the studio.
Natural Wood keys provide the weighting and response that pianists expect. The keys are weighted differently, so they are a little lighter at the bright end of the keyboard and a little heavier at the deep end. The synthetic ivory and ebony is slightly porous, which provides better contact between finger and key. It ensures the precision and during long sessions.
Finally, there is a third sensor which enables repetitions like on an acoustic grand piano, where notes can be repeated without the key being released completely. It makes it easier to play quickly, repeat notes and is one of the key reasons why pianists choose grand pianos over upright pianos.
CP has a one-to-one interface that gives you direct, sonically fast and total control over your sound on stage or in the studio. There is no programming, you don't have to dive into menus or look for things on the Net with CP. With the intuitive interface, you can quickly create splits, layers and shape your tone directly from the front panel.
CP73 and CP88 can be integrated into your home studio or live rig with built-in USB-MIDI and -Audio connection.
The CP73 and CP88 are among the lightest and most compact instruments in their class. The CP88 weighs just 18.6 kg while the CP73 weighs 13.1 kg.
