Launched in 1981 as a companion to the TB-303 Bass Line, the TR-606 was a programmable drum machine whose size, price and ease of use made making music at home much more accessible. The punchy midrange kicks, popping tambourines and sizzling hi-hats were a hit with the home musician and can be heard across genres, from 80s new rave and punk to all kinds of electronic music.

The sound of a TR-606 is unique to the TR family and the very foundation of many classics and underground tracks. But despite the fact that many loved its tone, it wasn't particularly versatile. The TR-06 reinvents the original with new sound shaping potential and delicious built-in effects. Set the tuning, decay and pan for each instrument or turn up the built-in gain and send the circuit model into warm overdrive or aggressive distortion. The built-in compressor provides warmth and punch, while the tempo delay creates depth and space from nuanced repeats to controlled chaos.

The step sequencer in the TR-606 is, like the original, recognizable and intuitive, so you can quickly and easily fire up any kind of beat. And now it's updated with advanced features, such as adjustable sub-steps for rayched parts, step-loop for instant pattern slicing and per-step probability for beats that never get boring.

Many modular and tabletop rigs lack a good drum sequencer that is easy and simple to use. The TR-06 has five trigger outs and one trigger in, making it easy to work with other gear, get new ideas and explore creative possibilities. Sequencing is fast and streamlined and you can mix and layer your external modules with the TR-06's built-in sounds for massive rhythmic sequences.

Like the other Roland Boutiques, the TR-06 is rugged and solidly built with a metal top and color-matched case with three tilt settings. It is a premium USB audio interface for easy and fast recording with your computer and can run on standard AA batteries for hours. It even has a built-in speaker.
